Head Coaches will determine sock and belt color and provide that information to the team at the first practice. Glen Allen Athletic Youth Association is a 100% volunteer organization, from the president to the parents we all work as a TEAM to ensure the athletes have fun, while learning the fundamentals of Softball that will carry through to life experiences. We are always looking for volunteer help with the season, please indicate your interest during registration, and reach out regarding information about any needs we have. When our athletes and families come to the fields, they should come with a commitment to positively honor the game and the association. Spring Baseball 2025

Baseball ages range from 4 years old to 16 years old

Glen Allen Baseball is proud to provide players in both Minors (9-10) and Majors (11-12) an opportunity to play either standard Recreation baseball, or Competitive baseball. Below is a break-down of differences between the two:

The Rec divisions are intended for players who want a full season of practices and games and are interested in opportunities to play several positions. Teams typically practice or play 2-3 times during a typical week, and every player who registers before the cutoff date is guaranteed a spot on a team. This is designed for players who want opportunities to play multiple positions and are available to play multiple days per week.  The rec season begins with practice in early March.

The Comp divisions are designed for players who have a more advanced skill set for their age, and may have limited availability to play due to other sports or programs. The Comp divisions typically begin practicing late January at Rockit Sports once a week for the first few weeks, then transition to outdoor practices and games beginning early March. Players are required to attend tryouts, no exceptions to this rule! Players are evaluated by 3-5 College or High School coaches from the area who have no ties to the league or the players. This helps ensure the evaluation is fair and unbiased. There are only 4 Comp teams in each division, with a max of 12 players per team. The league is usually split 24/24 between the two ages from each division (24x 9’s and 24x 10’s for example) unless the disparity in ability between one and the other is considerable. The Comp leagues get a higher quality uniform, player picked numbers, and upgraded hats. Typically Minors games are on Wednesday, and Majors is on Thursdays, or vice-versa. The managers for the Comp divisions must submit their names no later than 15 December and will be voted on by the Baseball Ops Committee. These managers will be notified on or around 05 January. Players who try out for Comp divisions and are not offered a spot on one of the teams are automatically placed into the rec division, and will be refunded the $25 Comp upcharge.
